Explore how we can upgrade your look with this guide to our cosmetic services.
Bonding
Dental bonding is a simple procedure that can resolve a variety of dental issues including teeth that are cracked, chipped, gapped, or broken. Bonding can even be used to elongate teeth for a seamless smile. In less than an hour, your smile will look good as new, or better. During the procedure, Dr. Maniscalco will shape a tooth-colored composite so it matches the contours of your natural smile.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays have both cosmetic and restorative benefits. They can repair mild to moderate decay as well as chipped teeth. Inlays and onlays can even replace metal fillings. The procedure is the preferred treatment choice when a cavity is too large for a filling, but doesn’t yet require a crown. The inlays and onlays are made of porcelain or a composite resin to seamlessly blend in with your smile while providing increased stability for your tooth.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are thin porcelain shells that cover your teeth and their imperfections, leaving you with a flawless smile. With one simple treatment, you can conceal a variety of dental issues including gapped teeth, discoloration, gummy smiles, misalignment, cracked or chipped teeth.
With veneers, you can bypass years of orthodontic treatments and still get the smile of your dreams. We offer porcelain veneers, Lumineers®, and Durathins®. Lumineers and Durathins do not require any prep work on your teeth so they can be easily removed.
Alternative Orthodontic Treatments
Now you can correct a variety of orthodontic issues without the unsightly view of braces. In response to the growing popularity of clear aligners, we conveniently offer a wide selection of clear braces to fit your needs, including Clear Braces®, ClearCorrect®, 6 Month Smiles®, and Red, White, and Blue Aligners®.
Dr. Maniscalco will work with you to determine the best treatment option based on your needs. With clear aligners, you won’t have to sacrifice your lifestyle. Since they’re completely removable, you can continue to enjoy your favorite foods and beverages. Best of all, they’re virtually invisible to those around you.
Teeth Whitening
With time, environmental factors can cause teeth to stain or discolor. Luckily, at our office in Birmingham, we offer a variety of whitening treatments to brighten your smile for a more youthful appearance.
Whether you prefer immediate results with an in-office treatment or the convenience of whitening your teeth in the comfort of your own home, we can brighten your smile several shades with our teeth whitening treatment options. Choose from Zoom!®, Lumibrite®, or KöR® Deep Bleach. We’ll recommend the best whitening solution to achieve your desired results.
Smile Makeover
If you want to transform your smile, we can achieve your goals with a smile makeover. A smile makeover consists of a series of cosmetic or restorative treatments and can be a long-term commitment. During your initial consultation, Dr. Maniscalco will examine your oral health and provide you with a customized treatment that will include a variety of treatments aimed at achieving your goals.
Our Birmingham cosmetic dentist will recommend procedures based on your individual needs and may include any combination of the following: porcelain veneers, crowns, fillings, dental bonding, and dental implants.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does dental bonding last on front teeth?
With proper oral hygiene and biannual visits to see Dr. Maniscalco for checkups, dental bonding can last ten years or more. In addition to any aftercare instructions recommended by Dr. Maniscalco, we advise patients to avoid biting into hard foods and using their teeth as tools which can cause the bonding composite to chip.
Are in-office whitening treatments better than store-bought whitening kits?
Dental offices are allowed to administer whitening treatments that have a higher concentration of a bleaching agent called hydrogen peroxide. This provides results instantly– without having to wait weeks as you would with store-bought whitening treatments. Our treatments are applied by trained professionals to avoid contact with your gums for maximum benefits while preventing sensitivity.

Does dental insurance cover cosmetic treatments?
Insurance may cover a portion of the expenses if they’re also restorative in nature. Typically, insurance companies won’t cover procedures that are solely cosmetic. We recommend contacting your provider for specific information about your coverage prior to your appointment.
If there are any questions we can answer, don’t hesitate to contact our office by calling (205) 967-9100 and one of our knowledgeable team members will be happy to assist you.
What should I expect when I get my inlay or onlay restoration?
Your inlay or onlay restoration will be completed over two dental appointments. First, your tooth will be prepared for treatment, and an impression will be taken to serve as a mold for your new restoration.
You may receive a temporary restoration to keep your tooth safe while your permanent restoration is created. Once completed, you’ll return to have the temporary restoration removed and the permanent one bonded to the surface of your teeth.
What is the purpose of cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry aims to improve your overall appearance by enhancing the aesthetics of your gums and teeth. Simultaneously, our procedures can also improve the functioning of your smile and create ease with your oral care routine, making you less susceptible to tooth decay and other dental issues. When you have a beautiful smile, you’ll want to show it off — this will benefit other areas of your life and build confidence that won’t go unnoticed.
