When it comes to orthodontic treatments, you don’t need to settle with metal braces. At Maniscalco Cosmetic & General Dentistry, we offer four alternatives to metal braces for you to choose from. Not every patient is the same, which is why we want to offer as many options as possible. Between our four different options, we hope you can find one that will suit your lifestyle to help you achieve a beautiful and straight smile. You can choose from the well-known ClearCorrect®, Red White & Blue® Aligners or even 6 Months Smiles®. To be a candidate for our different options, you need to only have a mild to moderate case. Those who have severe bite issues will most likely need to see another orthodontist for surgery and other options. Visit us at our Birmingham dentist office to find out which treatment option is best for you.

Before you choose your orthodontic treatment, make sure you explore all the treatments available as one might be better for your lifestyle!
Who is a Candidate for Alternative Orthodontic Treatments?
Almost everyone is a candidate for orthodontic treatments. If your orthodontist has told you that you need braces, it’s very likely that you are a good candidate for our alternative orthodontic treatments, unless you have severe problems. Regardless of your age, if you have an overbite, underbite or crossbite, gapped teeth, crooked teeth or crowded teeth, you are a good candidate for our orthodontic treatments. During your consultation with our orthodontist, we will tell you about our different options and recommend the best ones for you. Candidates must have healthy teeth and be responsible enough to wear their aligners for the recommended time. This is to ensure your treatment moves along as planned.
ClearCorrect is an American made brand, our dentist will take impressions of your teeth, x-rays and perform a dental exam. During this time, he will plan out your entire ClearCorrect treatment. He will send this information off to the ClearCorrect lab where all of your aligners are custom manufactured. Once they return, you will wear them for about two weeks before changing them for new aligners. You also need to wear them for 22 hours per day at least, also removing them only to eat, drink, or to brush and floss. ClearCorrect poses the benefits of giving you a discreet and nearly invisible orthodontic treatment.
6 Month Smiles®
This treatment option is ideal for those who want an expedited orthodontic treatment. Although this treatment is recommended for patients who only have mild cases that need fixing. Within a time span of about 6 months, your orthodontic treatment will be complete. 6 Month Smiles are a nearly clear option. They look a lot like metal braces, but they are made with tooth-colored wires and clear brackets. This makes your treatment less noticeable. You will return about every 6 weeks for adjustments and your treatment should be complete in about 6 months! This treatment option is for adults 16 and older.
Red, White & Blue Aligners®
Our other metal braces alternative is known as Red, White & Blue aligners. You should know that they are not red, white and blue, they are actually clear. Red, White & Blue aligners are a lot like ClearCorrect because they are clear aligners that are used to gradually move your teeth into their ideal position. This treatment has you start off wearing the “red” labeled aligners. Then you move on to wear the “white” aligners and end wearing a “blue” one and then a retainer. These aligners are designed to deal with minor problems like crowding, or spacing. If you need bite correction, this might not be the right option for you.
